Bill Knowles had the fortunate experience to visit
the strength and conditioning staff at the University
of North Carolina. He lectured for the day on advanced
rehabilitation and reconditioning tactics for injured

Gary Phillips of England’s FA (Football Association)
stopped by for 2 weeks in January to rehab a chronic
injury. Gary is a Fitness Coach for England’s
youth athletes (U21, U19, U17, and Futsol). It
was hard to keep him off the snow covered mountains
here in Vermont as he does enjoy his alpine skiing
occasionally. |

James Forrester (Gloucester Rugby) and Scott Bemand
(Leicester Tigers and now Bath Rugby) both visited
iSPORT in January. After 2-3 weeks of reconditioning
following injury, the athletes are back in England
preparing for the upcoming 2008/09 season. We wish
them all the best!

Gareth Williams of Watford Football Club suffered
a knee injury late in the 2007 season. He visited
iSPORT with his physiotherapist for 2 weeks to
advance his preparation for the remainder of the
2008 season. His teammate Damien Francis was over
in September as well with 2 other physiotherapists
from the club.

England
iSPORT is excited for England Netball legend Tracey
Neville as she returns to the professional ranks
after two years out with knee injuries. Tracey
came to Vermont in April 2007 for an intense rehab
and reconditioning camp. She followed a plan until
July where Bill Knowles worked with her once again
in England. Her hard work has paid off and she
will play once again in the English Superleague
in late October.

iSPORT alumni
CLASH on the rugby pitch
Charlie Hodgson (left, Sale / England) and Dan
Ward-Smith (Bristol / England) managed some good
contact after both athletes have made a successful
return to rugby following ACL surgeries. This was
Dan’s first game back and Charlie’s
second. Both athletes spent four weeks at iSPORT
and Bill worked with them once again in England
at the Rugby World Cup Camps in Bath. iSPORT wishes
them both a successful and safe season!

Damien Francis (right in photo) of Watford Football
Club stopped by iSPORT on his comeback progression
from ACL surgery. He brought along Head of Medical
Andy Rolls who Bill met in England in August. Damien
is making great progress with the Medical Staff
at Watford, and the information gained at iSPORT
will help along that process.

Stuart Abbott of Harlequins Rugby Club (2003 England World Cup winner) spent
3 weeks at iSPORT in preparation for the 2007 Premiership season. A combination
of field training and a little mountain hiking was in order during his stay. |

Bill Knowles spent 5 weeks in England this summer working specifically with England’s
World Cup Rugby Team. He was brought in as a specialist in lower extremity rehabilitation
and reconditioning. Many of the key players for England were in need of his expertise,
but England’s medical and performance staff also had a great deal to offer
Bill as well. iSPORT wishes England the best of luck during the 2007 World Cup
in September and October 2007.

following a leg surgery and displays the same confidence

Dan Ward-Smith will spend four weeks in the United
States with renowned knee specialist Bill Knowles

Killington.

England fly-half Charlie Hodgson and Scotland
captain Jason White will fly to America to work
with the specialist who also worked with Richard
Hill.
Hodgson and White are both recovering after knee
reconstruction surgery, and will continue their

Saas-Fee Switzerland
As a guest lecturer with the German Academy of
Applied Sports Medicine, Bill Knowles spent two
weeks in Switzerland speaking to German Physicians
interested in adding the subtitle Sports Medicine
to their educational credentials. The German Academy
of Applied Sports Medicine ltd (GAASM) is an academic
institution serving the field of Sport Medicine
and Sports Science. In cooperation with related
organizations & associations around the globe,
GAASM is committed to define and to establish
elite standards in the education of sports medicine
professionals.

Portugal
Rehabilitation specialist Bill Knowles traveled
to Portugal this summer to work with Premiership
Footballer David Thompson. Bill spent a week developing
a soccer specific program for David to follow
leading up to pre-season. David signed a contract
with the Portsmouth Football Club in late July
and is currently back playing in the Premiership
at Fratton Park.

Rugby athletes push each other in training at iSPORT
Premiership footballer Neil Clement of West Bromwich
Albion spent 3 weeks in July/Aug at iSPORT to prepare
for the August pre-season following a knee surgery.
At the same time Leicester Tigers’ Ollie Smith
visited iSPORT for a 10 day conditioning camp to
prepare for his Premiership Rugby season as well. |

Player finds his way to Vermont
Richard Hadley of the Brisbane Lions spent eight
days at iSPORT following a knee surgery a few months
prior. Richard has been a Premiership player for
3 years and will look to make a strong comeback
in early 2007 when the next season begins. |

conditioning camp with US Snowboard Team athletes
Hannah, Elija, and Abe Teter. iSport has been designing

past 2 years. This was the final off-snow preparation
heading into December's Olympic qualifying opportunities. |

Hannah Teter wins back to back FIS World Cup half
pipes in Chile. VALLE
NEVADO, Chile (Sept. 15) – Vermont’s
Hannah Teter (Belmont, VT) didn’t miss a beat
Thursday en route to back-to-back halfpipe wins
at the World Cup season opener in Valle Nevado,
Chile. Teter, the lone American woman – and
one of five U.S. athletes overall – to qualify
for either halfpipe finals, charged the pipe for
her first win of the 2006 season in the morning
before following up with another victory that same
afternoon. |

iSPORT Team Sports Medicine Physician travels with
US Snowboard Team to Chile. Dr.
Matt Gammons accompanied the US Snowboard Team to
Chile in September for two weeks. Dr. Gammons provided
the necessary medical services to the athletes and
gained valuable experience that can be applied to
all athletes that he treats at the Vermont Orthopaedic
Clinic and the Killington Medical Clinic. Dr. Gammons
is a sports medicine specialist and will plan on
traveling with the US Snowboard Team and US Ski
Team in the near furure. |

French world cup ski racer Sebastien Fournier
continues his comeback from ACL surgery two year
ago. He successfully returned to the World Cup
only to suffer an ankle injury in January ’05.
He was in Saas-Fee, Switzerland this summer training
to prepare for the 05/06 World Cup season and
2006 Olympics in Torino, Itlay. Sebastien spent
three weeks at iSPORT to rehab his knee during
the summer of ’04. We wish him well! |
